2019 Co-op Month Fun

That's a wrap on Co-op Month 2019! CVEA thanks everyone for your participation.

CVEA and CV Telecom partnered on another successful Co-op Month event, this year adding cold weather gear collections to the annual food drive. Thanks to members' donations, your local Cooperatives will be able to bring non-perishable food items to the CRNA and AHTNA food banks and cold weather items to the Copper River Crisis Pregnancy Center in Glennallen and the Valdez Food Bank and Parent Resource Center in Valdez; giving all organizations the ability to provide extra assistance to their clients as we head into winter. People who brought items were rewarded with an entry into a drawing for a $100 CVEA energy credit. Congratulations to Janet Rembe in Glennallen and Dolores Gard in Valdez!

Over 1,000 people stopped by both CVEA offices to enjoy the Whoville/How the Grinch Stole Christmas inspired Halloween Spooktacular on Halloween from 3-5 pm. Kids and parents alike enjoyed themed decorations, five treat stops, a FREE reusable Grinch bag and button, and a fun, themed photo booth. Fun was had by all. Please visit cvea.org for the complete Whoville Halloween Spooktacular videos. CVEA wasn't alone; roughly 40 businesses participated in this year’s event in Glennallen. Fun was had by all and CVEA was pleased to work with community businesses to create a fun, safe, and easy to access trick or treating experience.

CVEA employees will begin judging the Ruralite cover photo contest soon. 32 photos were submitted from eight photographers this year; stay tuned for those winners.

CVEA employees took a break from ‘Whoville’ each week, volunteering their lunch hours processing recyclables at the Recycling Our Areas Resources Recycling Center in downtown Glennallen. CVEA employees generously donate their time to this cause each October during Co-op Month.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the CVEA Co-op Month events this year, and a thanks to the Copper River Record and the Copper River School District for partnering on the Halloween Spooktacular advertising and promotions. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions regarding Co-op Month or any other CVEA topic, please contact Sharon Scheidt, Director of Communications, at 822-5506, or email scheidt@cvea.org.
