CVEA Celebrates the Holiday With Local Seniors

On Thursday, December 5 and 12, CVEA employees gathered with local seniors in Glennallen and Valdez, respectively, for holiday celebrations as part of the CVEA Community Foundation’s Senior Holiday Giving Program. This annual event, a cherished and anticipated tradition, aims to support and show appreciation for the senior population in the communities served by the cooperative.

Sharon Scheidt, CVEA Director of Communications, shared that “Seniors are our oldest and dearest members. They’ve been with us the longest, many since the beginning. We want them to know we care about them and appreciate all they have done for the Co-op and the community. We have so much fun together. It is a favorite for employees as well.”

Both events had record attendance this year; participants enjoyed food, games, prizes, gifts, and the chance to connect with each other.

At the Valdez event, a check for $1,850 from the Foundation was presented to support the senior garden project.

Beyond the in-person celebrations, the Foundation also contributes to the community Meals on Wheels and holiday food deliveries, providing a small Christmas gift for each senior recipient (over 65 in the Copper Basin).
